Founded on July 3, 1919, The Helical Bar and Engineering Company Limited initially specialized in the manufacturing and supply of reinforcing steel for the construction industry. After 65 years of operation in this field, the company encountered financial difficulties and pivoted towards new opportunities. On August 21, 1984, Michael Slade, who brought over 15 years of expertise in commercial real estate, joined the Board.
By late 1986, the steel reinforcement division was divested, enabling Helical Bar to evolve into a property development and investment firm. Michael Slade became the Chief Executive, while Nigel McNair Scott took on the role of Finance Director.
Gerald Kaye became a Board member in 1994, and Matthew Bonning-Snook was appointed as Director in 2007 after joining Helical in 1995. Tim Murphy was named Finance Director in July 2012. During the 2016 Annual General Meeting, Michael Slade was appointed Chairman, with Gerald Kaye stepping in as Chief Executive.
