Established on July 3, 1919, The Helical Bar and Engineering Company Limited initially focused on producing and distributing reinforcing steel for construction. After 65 years in this sector, the company faced financial challenges and shifted its focus to new ventures. On August 21, 1984, Michael Slade, with over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate, joined the Board.
By the end of 1986, the steel reinforcement division was sold, allowing Helical Bar to transition into a property development and investment company. Michael Slade took on the role of Chief Executive, with Nigel McNair Scott serving as Finance Director.
Gerald Kaye joined the Board in 1994, and Matthew Bonning-Snook became a Director in 2007 after joining Helical in 1995. Tim Murphy was appointed Finance Director in July 2012. During the 2016 AGM, Michael Slade was named Chairman, and Gerald Kaye was appointed Chief Executive.
