Carpenters Estate: Crafted by Populo Living
Populo Living: Creating Homes in Newham
As Newham’s dedicated housing company, our mission is to develop and construct superior homes for the community. We prioritize our customers, focusing on both the larger vision and intricate details. The outcome is appealing living spaces, designed to endure, where settling in and feeling at home comes naturally.
We offer accommodations for private rental, social rental, and shared ownership, having successfully completed four well-received projects in Stratford, East Ham, Plaistow, and Whitechapel. At least 50% of the homes we provide meet the Mayor of London's criteria for genuine affordability.
Additionally, we manage the properties we develop, ensuring a responsive and compassionate service for our residents.
Our Journey and Newham’s Legacy
Our beginnings trace back to 2014 as Red Door Ventures, a company fully owned by Newham Council, with an initial focus on constructing homes for the private rental sector, generating revenue for the Council.
Since October 2018, under the leadership of Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz, our mission has expanded to address the critical need for truly affordable homes in Newham. We are now active in 12 locations and aim to have over 1,000 new homes in progress by March 2022.
While many of our projects involve new constructions, we also revitalize neglected buildings and areas, preserving Newham’s heritage. We are leading the development for The Carpenters project and continue to utilize brownfield sites throughout the borough.
Commitment to Sustainability and Ethics
As a responsible developer, we pledge to meet or surpass all current and future green building standards. This includes mindful construction practices that minimize waste, noise, pollution, and disruptions. For residents, this translates to homes that are more energy-efficient. We also integrate social and green spaces into our planning and advocate for sustainable travel.
We aim to collaborate with local businesses that align with our values, investing back into Newham and its residents. Explore our current job opportunities.
We are in the process of registering as a social housing provider, reinvesting any profits directly into housing for Newham.
Committed to Long-Term Growth
Supported by Newham Council, we are equipped to build for the future, providing stability. Access to public funding and Council-owned land enables us to transform these assets into homes vital for Newham.
With a dozen sites designated for development across Newham, our plans extend well into the upcoming decade. This long-term vision is evident in our operations: the excellence of our design and construction, our dedication to service and management, and our ability to forge enduring partnerships with trusted collaborators and suppliers.
