L&Q Overview
L&Q stands as a regulated charitable housing association and ranks among the UK’s prominent independent social enterprises. The L&Q Group provides housing for approximately 250,000 individuals in over 95,000 residences, largely situated in London and the South East.
Our Mission and Origins
Our initiatives are driven by a strong social purpose. Originating from the ‘new wave’ of housing associations in the 1960s, our foundation was laid in response to increasing social awareness regarding housing and homelessness. Our aim has always been to offer quality, affordable housing to society's most vulnerable, a mission that continues to inspire us today.
Vision and Commitment
L&Q envisions a future where everyone has access to a quality home they can afford. We merge our social goals with commercial ambitions to build homes and communities that instill pride among residents.
Focusing on Residents
Our priority is the welfare of our current social housing residents, which we support by investing in their homes, communities, and services. Additionally, we develop high-quality housing for private rent, shared ownership, and outright sale.
Addressing the Housing Crisis
To tackle the housing and affordability crisis, we aim to construct 100,000 new homes over the next decade. Of these, 60,000 will be built or funded by L&Q, and an additional 40,000 will be developed through partnerships. Importantly, at least 50% of these new homes will be genuinely affordable, with a goal of 60% affordability within London.
