The Zero is the future of zero-carbon living and we deliver that promise with every decision and every detail. It's sustainability without the sacrifice, The Zero is a home with all the advantages that benefit the planet and we call these Zero Benefits.
Our solar panels could save residents as much as £6,500 a year. This goes a stage further as on sunny days the solar energy generated at The Zero is stored in our 10 Tesla Powerwalls for use in peak pricing times. This provides an additional saving of up to 65% off peak prices which is the equivalent of up to a further £6,000 per year.
This isn’t just a summer benefit either, during the winter we store super green wind farm energy into our Tesla Powerwalls. This can then be used during peak times which reduces off peak costs by 65%. You’ll see the impact in the size of your energy bills, not on the planet.
1
The Zero will be its own green energy provider, passing every penny of saving, made from producing and storing our solar energy, to every apartment.
2
You control the heating, cooling, ventilation and hot water in your home – wherever you are. Thanks to smart a technology app, you can optimise your energy consumption, reduce your costs and create a perfect level of comfort for your Zero home.
3
The Zero will supply superfast 1GB fibre broadband to every front door. That’s a guaranteed ultra-fast connection to every Zero home, with your choice of Virgin Media or BT Openreach.
4
Windows are one of the biggest sources of heat loss. But not at The Zero. All glazing is to the highest specifications and Passivehaus rated, with triple glazing and heat reflected coatings keeping your new home bright and warm in the winter and sunny but cool in the summer. Not only this, they’re the most sound proofed and secure windows available.
5
Our homes are insulated to the highest standards, offering excellent thermal efficiency and carefully controlling heat loss and gain. The Zero also benefits from free solar heating through the design of the windows and orientations. We've even built all south-facing walls a little thicker, so the building doesn’t overheat in summer.
6
Steel balconies are the norm in new developments, but not in ours. At the Zero we have constructed our balconies in concrete, with more efficient thermal bridging, to help contain heat loss and maintain a balanced temperature throughout.
7
The main energy source at The Zero is the sun. We’ve installed the highest spec solar panels on the market, to ensure we maximise every opportunity to draw free energy.
From this, The Zero will generate 35,000 kilowatt hours of energy every year. This is the equivalent of a saving of up to £6,500 per year across the building, or 56 days’ worth of free energy for each apartment from the solar source alone, giving you significant savings on your energy bills every year.
8
We’ve used wet underfloor heating because it’s brilliantly efficient and beats electric on cost, efficiency and functionality. You don’t need to get your feet wet – just soak up that radiantly warm floor.
9
When the summer days heat up, our exhaust air heat pump helps keep you cool. At night, cooler air from outside is circulated to ensure your apartment is well ventilated without the need to open the windows, ensuring you get a good night’s sleep.
10
Whether it’s a steaming hot shower or a toasty bedroom, our air sourced heat pump system utilises energy from inside the apartment. It’s one of the lowest maintenance and most energy-efficient ways to heat a home. And that means costs are always low, provides clean air and it doesn’t cost the earth either.
11
The kettle is one of the least efficient appliances in the home. Which is why all our apartments are fitted filtered instant-boiling kitchen taps, which waste no energy by boiling only the water you need. Not only do they use a fraction of the energy, they look beautiful too.
12
With its pioneering and unrivalled degree of energy innovation and design, The Zero’s apartments have unsurprisingly been awarded a coveted A-rated Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Only a tiny 0.1% of UK homes have been able to meet the stringent requirements to achieve an exceptional A-rating.
This truly places The Zero apartments in an elite class, confirmed by this official recognition of each apartment’s superlative energy efficiency credentials.
In addition to the benefits for you, the Zero’s EPC A-rating will also make your home even more attractive to future buyers or tenants.
13
Aesthetically beautiful timber-effect flooring that insulates and heats efficiently. Made from recycled and sustainable materials, with the reassurance of a manufacturer’s lifetime guarantee. Just as importantly, no trees were harmed in its production. The factory that produces this innovative flooring is powered exclusively by solar, wind and hydro energy.
14
Cutting-edge in styling and design, the incredibly durable worktops and splashbacks throughout every apartment's kitchen are made from the highest quality Silestone recycled materials.
15
A big step towards true sustainability is the end of fossil fuel use. Our fully electric building can come off grid during certain times, therefore making it totally self-sufficient. With The Zero being electric completely, we also have three electric car ports of site.
16
At The Zero you have the choice to add the latest smart home technology solutions to your apartment. From controlling lights and audio to security and heating, you can control your new home from your smartphone.
17
Bikes and healthy living are positively encouraged at The Zero, so we provide a secure bike store to safely store your cycling equipment.
18
We’ve a no worries, no fuss policy when it comes to all things covered by your warranty. We’ve an app which allows you to post any potential problems which you can then use to track the remedial action's progress.
Not only that, you’ll also be able to use the app to arrange social events with your neighbours, be it a BBQ on the grounds or a bike ride around Richmond Park.
19
Kitchen appliances can be hidden energy drains. That’s why we’ve focussed on sourcing some of the most efficient high-end brands around. Keeping our conscience and clothes clean.
20
Not only is our building located within a safe local community of leafy SW20 but also at the Zero we have embraced the latest security standards to become awarded a Secure By Design (SBD) accreditation from the Police which is also supported by the Home Office.
All of our window locks, doors and communal lighting has been carefully considered and subsequently SBD accredited for your additional safety so you can feel extra safe and sleep soundly.
The Zero was conceived with a groundbreaking vision: to establish one of the most eco-friendly developments in the UK while maintaining exceptional design and functionality. This project leads the way in high-quality, zero-carbon living. Every element, from creating a thermally efficient structure to minimizing the energy consumption of each apartment and the building as a whole, embodies the utmost in sustainability and impressive design.
At The Zero, we leverage the sun's natural power, benefiting our owners by reducing their energy expenses and contributing to environmental conservation. By using state-of-the-art solar panel technology alongside a bank of Tesla Powerwall storage batteries, our building achieves complete self-sufficiency during certain times of the year.
