Hackney Wick is a vibrant and distinctive part of London with a long and rich history and a world-class reputation as a creative quarter, home to some 250 artist studios and around 100 creative businesses.

We have been appointed to develop three sites around Hackney Wick Station into a vibrant new mixed-use, mixed-tenure development which contributes to Hackney Wick’s character and reputation as a creative quarter.

Wick First will be more than just new buildings. We are invested in ensuring this development genuinely benefits the existing local community, reflects the local character and enhances the public space.

Our Vision for Wick First is to harness Hackney Wick’s existing creative community, people, potential, character, and history; nurture sustainable growth and deliver a creative, diverse and inclusive town centre that demonstrates innovative regeneration.
We have partnered with Bow Arts on this project. Bow Arts have existing experience working with Notting Hill Genesis delivering major, industry-leading placemaking programmes within London. That same team will be responsible for developing and delivering our commercial strategy in Hackney Wick.

This will be brought together through place making with sustainability, opportunity and community engagement at the core so we can help support local businesses and arts industries that need relocating.

You can register with Bow Arts at any time to receive regular updates on affordable workspace availability and upcoming projects. Bow Arts do not operate a waiting list, they curate each space selecting artists and creative businesses who will work for that particular building.

At a glance

The three LLDC sites are located to the north and south of the award-winning Hackney Wick Overground station, with one site in Hackney and two in Tower Hamlets. The development includes c.4,500 m² of non-residential space, including retail, commercial, community facilities and low-cost workspace. The scheme will deliver a public square in front of the station and a north-south route for pedestrians and cyclists to improve station access.
