Interior Architect & Designer: Scenesmith
Longlisted for a Dezeen Award 2020: Apartment Interior
Located just minutes away from Shoreditch and Bethnal Green, through the lively Columbia Road, is Hide. This development is nestled between a Grade II Listed former church and Hackney City Farm. The project includes 9 apartments and 2 commercial spaces, all set in a secluded area surrounded by greenery and wildlife. The unique charm of Hide offers a rare opportunity to create something truly special.
Our deep appreciation for East London, cultivated over years of work in the region, is embodied in Hide. We have partnered with a range of local artisans and skilled craftspeople to deeply root the project in its locality. Bringing together various talents, from illustrators to cabinet makers, has been an extraordinary experience.
Working closely with the interior architects and designers at Scenesmith, we introduced several unique elements to the apartments and show home. Nearby, Lozi Designs, a team of sustainable plywood cabinet makers, crafted the kitchens and bedroom cabinets, incorporating a warm cherry wood veneer and delicate curved edges.
The ensuite bathrooms feature bespoke terrazzo vanity units from Altrock in Leytonstone, East London. These units are crafted using reclaimed marble off-cuts and other by-products from the natural stone industry. Complementing the Verde Guatemala terrazzo, we used white matte brassware by The Watermark Collection, handcrafted in Brooklyn, New York.
The flooring throughout the apartments is a carbon-neutral product made from 100% natural rubber by Nora Flooring. For the facade, we selected exquisite handmade Petersen Tegl bricks.
